Lead CPR Trainer and owner, also known as ‘The VetMed CPR Coach’. Sam is a highly experienced registered veterinary nurse who has spent most of her career in a referral hospital environment, primarily based in wards but with anaesthesia experience also.

She has been head of training in the hospital and her final clinical role was clinical services manager. Where she supported all new members of the clinical team and was responsible for the hospital’s CPR Training.

A qualified teacher and coach who has previously been a veterinary nursing programme manager Sam created the VetMed CPR coach, and later set up the ‘The PetMed CPR Education Company’ in response to a need for veterinary CPR training. She is a RECOVER instructor  and highly passionate about the subject.

Claire and Sam have worked together for many years, in the referral hospital and also later on in a teaching capacity. Claire has worked in multiple referral hospitals but also has experience of primary care giving her an insight to the dynamics of general practice. She has previously been a head nurse. In her last role she was a medical nurse at Anderson Moores in Hampshire.

Currently she is a training officer and IQA at Bicton College. She’s previously taught veterinary nursing alongside Sam in an FE college and has a wealth of experience in supporting nurses in their learning journey.

A qualified RECOVER rescuer based in Devon. Claire will be able to support practices in this region, delivering VetMed CPR coach training to teams in your practice!

Katy and Sam met on the retreat and connected over karaoke. Katy is passionate RVN from Northampton. She has been in practice for over 20 years and worked in both primary care and referral. She loves theatre nursing and developing the team around her. Currently she is a theatre nurse and like the others balances her passions with family life. Keen to share her experience, teaching is something she enjoys and has a flair for!

A previous role as a Nursing Development lead cemented this desire and she is excited to be able to combine her job in practice with supporting teams with CPR. A certified RECOVER Rescuer Katy is ready to help your teams feel more confident with CPR.

Philippa Richmond

Philippa graduated from Harper Adams University in 2013 with a first-class honour’s degree in Veterinary Nursing and Practice Management. Over the years she has worked in both first opinion and referral practice, now working as the lead internal medicine nurse at Oakwood Veterinary Referrals in Cheshire.

She holds her Post Graduate Certificates Emergency and Critical Care and medical nursing. Philippa has a keen interest in supporting teams to achieve effective CPR and has been providing in house training to practice teams for the last 5yrs, she is also a tutor for an online ECC course.

Clare is an award-winning RVN with a healthy obsession with CPR in vet med. she has spent 10-years in clinical practice mostly first opinion with some time spent EEC focus out of hours. In that time she’s published several papers on CPR within vet med, including an abstract written with Sam which won BSAVA Best Abstract Poster in 2024 and more recently published an audit on CPR knowledge and skill retention which was awarded RCVS Knowledge Highly Commended 2025.
She loves meeting new teams and learning about their experiences with CPR and sharing knowledge
