Running our first accredited Canine First Aid
Fun fact I wrote a Canine First Aid course as part of my teacher training, inspired by husbands shocking attempt at a bandage using tape and a sock, it was ‘fragile’ tape but still….
Part of my vision when I set up the company was to cover life saving actions from all aspects. We know prompt CPR is needed for a chance of a positive outcome and so when the lovely Rachel Bean attended the retreat and started chatting to me about the first courses she ran, I wanted to know more.
A call with iPet Network ended up with us setting up as a training centre, tapping into my previous experience teaching and delivering programmes. So, in 2025 we became an approved iPet Network Centre offering a range of courses.
The one we wanted to get off the ground first was the Level 3 Canine First Aid. A friend from my photography days had just set up her new hydrotherapy centre and so the stars were aligning for our launch event. Our newest trainer Charlotte was a huge motivator for us getting this up and going, she’s a mobile vet nurse working with practices and pet owners to provide out of practice support. She’s going to hopefully take this and run with it!
Finally, after feeling like I drowning in cuddly dogs and bandages we had our first session. A small group who were all super keen and a mix of pet professionals, hydro therapists and pet owners. The day was rather packed with a very meaty power point at its core, but it all flowed well. Taking a respiration rate on a very cuddly cockapoo was a little tricky but we got there in the end!

Canine First Aid- What did we cover?
We covered all aspects of Canine First Aid including heat stroke, choking, cardiac arrest and toxins. A bandaging workshop broke up the day and enabled all attendees to practice both a head bandage and a foot bandage. I had a great moment when I realised I still had bandaging skills. The highlight of the day for me was the CPR workshop. I really believe having pet owners and professionals able to perform life saving skills will help save lives.
So, all in all a wonderful day, so much so we have the next planned and we can’t wait to help more of you save lives! If that sounds like a day you want to attend our next accredited day is the 10th of May and we will heading to Oxfordshire.
